Betelgeuse

TFC-022

Symphony n 3

Betelgeuse is the brightest star in the constellation of Orion, one of the brightest in the sky. This constellation is easily found in the night sky due to the three bright stars lined up to form the "belt" of Orion, the warrior. Ten degrees to the southwest of the belt is Rigel, a bright blue star, as opposed to Betelgeuse, the red star located ten degrees to the northeast of the belt.

Of the ten brightest stars in the sky, Betelgeuse is the red, with its distinctive color perceptible to the human eye.

Betelgeuse is what is known as a red supergiant star. Its dimensions are such that being the place of the Sun would be Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter in it.
